Hey All,
I wanted to share a couple of sessions from Care Net’s recent Men’s Summit in Dallas at Tony Evan’s church, Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship.
The most compelling part for me personally was a discussion that featured the stories of five post-abortive men. There were several reasons for this. For one thing, the comradery and chemistry among the men was evident. This was not only because of their shared experience, but also because they had been on a journey together with an author who was integrating their perspectives and insights into a newly-released resource for post-abortive men called Reclaiming Fatherhood. Additionally, the whole session championed the forgiveness of sins! That was so refreshing. In fact, I showed this half-hour edited version to our Mantua Creek church plant on Palm Sunday. Not only was it a great preparatory piece for communion, but it also provided our little church with a provocative and unexpected perspective on the topic of abortion. As you know, when it comes to this topic, most expect the conversation to be about politics, saving babies, or women. This panel surprises you because isn’t viewed through any of these lenses first, but rather the honest stories of men. As you’ll see, whether these men passively participated in the woman’s decision or actively encouraged it, their stories clearly illustrate that elective abortion (that’s not about saving a mother’s life) brings serious harm to men, not just women and pre-born children.
Additionally, I was part of a panel of pastors (see pic above) discussing how to lead with love in a post-Roe world. You can see a 30-minute edited version of that panel here.
Enjoy and as always I welcome your feedback. Also, let me know if I can answer any of your questions related to these topics (or point you toward some good info– things are pretty confusing and contentious out there right now!), or help you engage and equip your church to lead with love on these issues.
Blessings,
Greg
